Stepping stone to the Moon

Often referred to as the “stepping stone to the Moon,” Project Gemini proved to NASA and the astronauts that they could perform the tasks necessary to get to the Moon and return safely.

The program lasted from 1961 to 1966 with 12 missions, ten of which were crewed.
